Week 5
1.
I made some refinements to my initial design of the legspace using the experiences gathered during the prototype testing and added some wow-effects to the artifact (at least I thought it's a wow-effect. But to test my assumption, I'm waiting on my peers feedback: what is the wow-effect on my artifact? :)
2.
After finishing the selection matrix on my artifact that should close the gap of having tired legs at the office, I have had 4 potential candidates to be THE CONCEPT of this design problem. I was supposed to make 4 prototypes but I didn't find the metal clip from concept J at my local diy store, so I thought, I can figure out the pros and cons from these 3 concepts and extrapolate to concept J (which is my personal favorite).
I tested the prototypes and realised that concepts F and H are hard to use, the plastics are flowting, I must grap them to put my legs in them. The scarf (woven fabric) was much easier to use. Although it can be cleaned harder. As I used my husbands heavy legs as test subject I realised, the fabric must be fastened tight or else your feet will touch the ground.
A very hard part of choosing the right concept of the legspace was to choose the right fastening method of the material that supports the legs. After some research I choose this special self-holding hook, that supports heavy weights and it's easy to assemble.
So at the end my prototypes were tried out and I ended up refining concept J of my artifact.
